Arts and Culture COVID-19 Interruption Support

Available to Northern Territory artists and arts workers to offset or recoup money lost due to cancelled arts and cultural activity due to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions that came into force Monday 16 August 2021.

Visitation Reliant Small Business Support Program

The $9 million Visitation Reliant Small Business Support Program has been established for businesses reliant on international and interstate visitation.

Tourism Survival Fund

The $1.3 million Tourism Survival Fund has been established to assist tourism businesses most impacted by the lack of international visitors and who have not benefitted from tourism vouchers.

Territory Business Lockdown Payment Program

The Territory Business Lockdown Payment Program has been established to provide immediate financial support to businesses during a lockdown period.

This payment is an amount of $1,000 and those eligible will need to submit a simple online application.

Business Saver Grant

The $1 million Business Saver Grant will assist local businesses to reduce their ongoing costs.

Supply Chain Solver

The $1 million Supply Chain Solver grant will assist businesses experiencing difficulties with supply chain challenges.

Through the new grant, businesses will be able to explore options for solutions to supply chain issues.

Small Business Financial Fitness Fund

The $2 million Small Business Financial Fitness Fund will support businesses to access financial sustainability training programs specific to their needs.

This program will help businesses build a greater understanding of their financial position and develop strategies to improve sustainability.

Applications for peak industry bodies and training providers are now closed.

Applications for individual businesses (individual grants) to attend training open on 1 March 2021.

Not-for-Profit Tourism Attraction Survival Payment

The $500,000 Not-for-Profit Tourism Attraction Survival Payment has been established to support not-for-profit tourist attractions such as non-government museums and historical sites. The payment will support those organisations significantly impacted by COVID-19, and are able to demonstrate a reduction in turnover.

Small Business Survival Payment

The $500,000 Small Business Survival Payment provides businesses significantly impacted by the coronavirus with funding to help them survive, adapt and prepare for the economic rebound.

Business Hardship Package

The Business Hardship Package is an initiative to help businesses that have experienced significant hardship as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Territory businesses can apply to be listed on a central business hardship register.

This registration will enable businesses to apply to receive some financial relief from charges by government, local councils and some utility providers.

Business Rebound and Adaptation Grant

The Business Rebound and Adaptation Grant is a program designed to help Territory businesses build their capacity and adapt to the coronavirus (COVID-19) economic environment.

The grant has now closed for new applications.

Immediate Work Grant

The $10 million Immediate Work Grant program is available to incorporated not-for-profit and community organisation applicants who missed out on the first round will have the chance to reapply or re-enliven their original application.

Australian Government support

Boosting Apprenticeships Commencement Wage Subsidy

The $1.2 billion Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements wage subsidy will support businesses and Group Training Organisations to take on new apprentices and trainees, to build a pipeline of skilled workers to support sustained economic recovery.

JobMaker Hiring Credit

The $4 billion JobMaker Hiring Credit will provide businesses with an incentive to take on additional employees aged between 16 and 35 years old. Around 450,000 positions for young Australians will be supported through the JobMaker Hiring Credit.

Local Jobs Program

The Local Jobs Program brings together expertise, resources and access to funding at the local level to focus on reskilling, upskilling and employment pathways for people in each region.

Lower taxes

The Australian Government is lowering taxes by over $50 billion over the forward estimates, including around $9 billion in 2020-21 and an additional $32 billion in 2021-22. These include:

  • Temporary full expensing to support investment and jobs (instant asset writeoff) – tax benefit
  • Temporary loss carry-back to support cash flow – tax benefit
  • Fringe benefit tax exemption for employers that provided retraining activities and redeploy their workers to new roles within the business – tax benefit
  • Expansion of business tax concessions by increasing the turnover threshold from $10 million to $50 million – tax benefit
  • R&D tax incentive – for small companies (turnover less than $20 million) the R&D offset will increase to 18.5%; for larger companies, the intensity test will streamline from four to two tiers – tax benefit.

Business Events Grant opportunity

The Business Events Grants helps Australian businesses take part as buyers or sellers at business events.

Events must be pre-approved and held from 1 January to 31 December 2021. These may include:

  • exhibitions
  • conferences
  • conventions.

It aims to ease the financial pressure for event organisers and to encourage businesses to attend business events.
